Wow, this is a really cool article I came across in Science Daily. It's all about using decorative and flexible solar panels in interior design. But not just in the normal way like on roof tops. Actually incorporating it into the product to make the appearance pleasing to the user. It's about time sustainable products started to become decoratively infused in the every day product. Giving these technicians more "design freedom improves the range of applications of the panels on the surfaces of interior and exterior building spaces." The possibilities are endless! Spacecraft Lands on Comet and Makes History

Earlier this week, Philae launched from mother ship Rosetta and landed on a comet. This spacecraft experienced a controlled landing- the first of its kind. Unfortunately the mission wasn't a total success due to the probe's anchoring harpoons failing to hook properly. To read more about the excitement and what's to come in the future, click here

We like sports and we don't care who knows it

I'm taking a break from the serious stuff in this post to talk about something I love. Sports. This past week my buddies and I signed up for intramural bocce ball tournament. It's important to make time for the fun stuff when handling a stressful work load. Any way to stay active is important. The more social, the better. Especially if it's something during after work hours. I need that time to de-stress.  I have different sports for each time of the year. Summer I'll usually join a volleyball league. Winter is indoor soccer and basketball. And then I like to leave room in fall and spring for fun, out of the box leagues like bocce.

I found this interesting article on how staying active can boost brainpower. What are your thoughts? What are you favorite ways to stay active?

Big News For Red Hat

Application Development, as you all know, is something I find very interesting. Red Hat, a company that supplies an open platform for app development, and has just bought FeedHenry. FeedHenry is an interesting company based in Ireland; also serving as a platform for app developers. However, FeedHenry is primary used by enterprises building applications.

An interesting part of the article states, "large and small businesses are investing in building applications and security solutions to work on smartphones and tablets as well as roaming PCs. The mobile application platform was worth $1.4 billion in 2013 and will be worth $4.8 billion by 2017, according to forecasts from IDC."

And since the mobile app sector is the fastest growing segment in software marketing today, I believe it only makes sense to get myself involved. This is where the entrepreneurs graduating today will thrive. Read the full article here.

3-D Printing

A lot has been done in the word of 3-D printing. One of the bigger breakthroughs lately was the ability to create objects such as biological tissue with blood vessels. I have no idea how real this breakthrough truly is- the possibilities vs. the realties seem to be clouded still. That being said, I think this article brings up a valid point at the end. Although we are far away from big picture stuff, we've taken the first step. And that step has proven itself an important one.

A Follow Up: Sustaining and Enriching Ecosystems

Sorry everyone for missing my post last month! Life has been hectic but I'm back on the blog. This time around I thought I'd write somewhat of a follow-up to my topic from March.

I've been doing a lot of research into regenerative design and would like to get feedback from the community on what it could mean for the future. Not only our future in architecture, but in the tech world as well! The idea of sustainable design of products when building new architecture is fascinating to me. This "closed system" approach would allow our buildings and structures to function and metabolize into viable material all on their own. It's amazing stuff to read into; a path I believe if taken, would help fix problems we face today.

A great book on the subject, although old, is wonderfully thought provoking and can be found here.

Write back with comments and thoughts!

World’s Largest Solar Plant Comes Online

Ever since the beginning of my college career, I've been heavily intrigued with renewable energy. I've been on a quest to find products which will not only decrease negative impacts on the climate, but hold renewable and regenerative properties within their nature.

The technology of Ivanpah is incredibly complex. I'd dare to say it will be one of the biggest things to happen in renewable energy in 2014- even though we are just getting started! The solar plant opened last month and uses mirrors to focus the sun’s energy; thus generating electricity into power.

I believe solar technologies will be the way of the future. To read more on Solar Technology , click here. Thoughts and comments welcome!
